Fort Myers Fishing Charter With History
Fort Myers, Florida has been a fishing vacation destination for tourists for many years. Thomas Edison and Henry ford had their winter estates here as far back as the early 1900′s. They we’re not only drawn to Fort Myers for the mild climate, but also for the incredible fishing opportunities. Edison was an avid fisherman and there are documented photos of Edison in wooden boats holding giant tarpon caught right here in Fort Myers, FL. All the same species of fish that were here then are still here now. Snook, Tarpon, Redfish, Spotted Sea Trout, Sheepshead Jack Crevalle, and more.
Long before Edison and Ford, the Calusa Indians were here. Their entire civilization was based in Fort Myers. They are the inspiration for Captain Mark Yimin’s choice of naming his business as Calusa Fishing Adventures. Much like Captain Yimin, they survived by taking advantage of the rich fishing opportunities that Fort Myers has to offer. Tactics and techniques may have changed from their time and now, but the incredibly rich fishing opportunities still remain the same. Here is some proof that the fishing in our area is top notch. The Florida State record snook catch was caught right here, in Fort Myers!
